Free Cycle Maintenance Courses

We run free maintenance classes for anyone keen to learn the basics of fixing their bicycle.

The maintenance courses will teach you:

  • How to replace and patch an Inner Tube (fix a flat tyre)
  • The ‘M-check’ safety check of your bike
  • Adjusting gears & brakes
  • How to tell when to replace items (brake pads, rims, bearing etc.)
  • Adjusting your headset
  • What products & techniques to use to care for your bike

The free bike maintenance course runs from 9am – 12pm on Wednesday mornings.

The sessions are delivered by one of our mechanics, and there’s a lot to cover, as you will be shown all the essentials of bike maintenance.

However the delivery style is informal, with plenty of opportunity for you to ask questions throughout and get ‘hands on’ trying out these techniques.

These sessions work really well if you bring your own bike to work on, but if you can’t then you’re welcome to use one of ours.

Due to limited space, we do require that participants book in advance. You can do this by calling us on 01642 617 672, emailing us at stocktonactivetravel@walkwheelcycletrust.org.uk, or pop in to see us at The Hub, 147 High Street, TS181PL.
